Chūta Kokonose is an orphan who lives with his aunt. For as long as he can remember he's had a voice in his head, but other than that he's a normal boy - right until the day when a strangely-looking thing follows him home and teleports him to a place filled with more fantastic creatures. It's a space police station, and Rein Brickke, the Chief of Solar System Department, tells him that he's been chosen by the computer as a possible candidate to join the police force, although Misuzu Sonokata, a girl from Chūta's school with an angelic face and ill temper who turns out to be one of Rein Brickke's subordinates, doesn't think him suitable for such a job. Raise Giant Mushrooms in Your Cellar!'' There are many wondrous things that small boys can order from mail order catalogs.

Mars (マーズ) is a sci-fi series by Mistuteru Yokoyama that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion from 1976 to 1977, lasting for 5 volumes. It focuses on Mars, an amnesiac boy who was discovered on a volcanic island by a news reporter, only to learn that he was an alien with a mission to destroy the Earth if humans obtain weapons of mass destruction. Determined instead to save the Earth, Mars rebels against the aliens that gave him his mission.

2030, the boundaries of space are officially opened. Visitors from different planets in the system are allowed to come to Earth. Japanese government decides to limit galactic trade to the artificial island of Dejima created off Okinawa but the encounter of species from other worlds creates tensions on the island. A special force, made up of humans and aliens, is created to maintain order in Dejima: the Dragon Gun. During a patrol, DG officer Σ (Sigma) casually stops a lorry carrying illegal goods. Inside is a Mumère, a species coming from a marine planet, which ends its life to protect a heavy secret. This will be the beginning of a long investigation for the officer Σ.
