When time came to collect NTI for the Complete Works, Tezuka had promised that *All* of his works would get collected, but the original version was presumed lost. Tezuka, wishing to keep on his promise, decided to redraw the entire manga from memory. The version restored characters previously cut (like Peter Pan). The original ending was also restored, making this the definitive version of *New Treasure Island*. (from amazon.jp): The mangaka, who had serialized "Blazing Ninjaman" in Shonen Sunday, received an offer from Shogakukan's "Middle School 6th Grader" to make something for children, and he obliged. It is said to be a masterpiece even better than the original Sunday serial. The main character is also named "Ninjaman" but it is an original work with a completely different protagonist and worldview. It is a historical action Ninja vs. Ninja gag manga that revolves around Oda Nobunaga.

This series didn't have an ending until it's remake in 2002. Dante's themes and design elements would appear in Nagai's following works, such as Mazinger Z, and Devilman.

Stardust Memories talk about such problems as the implications of having people travel for years, even decades, in the cold, quiet and endless universe. A different story tells on how human presence in a foreign galaxy will affect the environment. The topics the author decides to write about are interesting and makes you wonder about the future.
